While this Easter is a little different than most, that doesn’t mean you can’t have some extra fun. So how do you make a day special while not being able to see your entire family? A fun bunny cake as an Easter dessert!
With the calendar at the command center bare except for Easter, the kids kept asking what we were going to do. Then one day, Marielle brought out the Power of Sprinkles cookbook and the kids were hooked flipping through the pages. When they stared at the Easter bunny cake long enough, they started begging me to make it for them.
I bought this book filled with explosion cakes for Marielle’s birthday party last year. It was a good amount of work, but you can imagine the excitement when all the candy spills out!
Having the cake explosion kit makes things a little easier. It comes with a few cake pans, food coloring, and even a bag filled with candy explosion sprinkles- which I’ve used on two cakes so far and have enough for a third.
Of course you don’t need the set and can make the bunny cake yourself. The cookbook has lots of helpful hints about substitutions. Plus, a handful of encouragement!
My bunny cake did not look like the perfect store bought masterpiece in the glossy pages of the book. But do not let that stop you!! If you want an Easter dessert that your kids will remember for years, this one is hard to top.
To add to the fun on this different Easter Day, we did an Easter egg hunt in the house, cooked a wonderful meal and even snapped a family photo!
One last thought about the explosion cake. There are so many great ideas in this book that you can have inspiration for every celebration! Birthdays, Halloween, Fourth of July, or just a way to cheer you up while stuck at home for days.
