Like everybody else, at the first sign of Spring I am thinking about and doing everything I need to do in preparation for warmer weather…YAY! This obviously includes a beauty update, which I am breaking down below!
First things first. I use this change of season to check all the expiration dates on my makeup and skincare…anything that needs to go, gets tossed. It’s so important to keep on top of this so that you aren’t using things that could potentially irritate your skin. Once I’ve done that, I take a good look at my skincare and update two items; sunblock and moisturizer. I buy new sunblock at the start of every season and two of my favorites are La Roche Posay Anthelios for my face, and Supergoop for my body. They spread easily, wear well on the skin and give great protection. As for moisturizer, my skin is combination, so you will never catch me with a heavy duty face cream, even in the winter. I prefer to hydrate with serums or lighter lotions. I just picked up a gorgeous new serum for myself called Serum C by Melanie Simon Skincare. It goes on like velvet, and makes my skin glow and glow and glow! I highly recommend.
Next up…makeup! This time of year is when I love to embrace bold pops of color. I was in Space NK the other day and was admiring the new Artistique blushes by Surratt, the colors are absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely be purchasing the color Poppy which is a beautiful coral. If you have never used Surratt blushes…you must! They are like a creamy powder and blend seamlessly with a luminous finish, they are perfection! I also like to play with brighter eyeliners/shadows this time of year and was watching Katie Jane Hughes apply the COOLEST neon orange liner on her Insta Stories and already ordered the palette she was using from Mehron Cosmetics. Even if you aren’t brave enough for orange neon liner….playing with brighter colors can work on anyone…just blend until you are comfortable with the level of color. I also love the Marc Jacobs Beauty Gel liners which come in easy twist up pencils, amazing colors, matte or shimmer finishes and stay put, even in warmer temps.
Finally, I always switch up my scent. I am a Le Labo Santal 33 kinda girl, but for spring I like to switch to something a little lighter. I recently picked up Bal D’Afrique by Byredo which is warm yet crisp at the same time. So in love with it.
All this talk is making me want to throw on a sundress and walk around Soho with an iced coffee….Come on Spring!!
